“We are most pleased to have had Eric come to our home to remedy an error on our Thermostat and to winterize our swamp cooler. His guidance through the choices left us knowing that we were getting the best one for the efficient operation of our furnace and the one that was most friendly to our repair budget. The house seems warmer as a result of his recommendation of the newly installed thermostat, and it turned out that the housing for the new thermostat fit over the outline left by the original thermostat.
Eric’s reassuring confidence in his abilities to winterize our swamp cooler to protect it during our winter season was a GREAT RELIEF for us, because the swamp cooler is brand new and it was an expensive model that stretched us. Eric was most willing to complete a check list provided by the manufacturer for the winterization and for us to maintain our warranty. We provided him with a cover that our previous swamp cooler professional assured us that it would fit. Unfortunately, try as many times as was possible, Eric was unable to get it to fit. Rather than leave us with cover that did not perform the protection needed for winter, he handed the old cover back to us and said that he was unable to make this work, and it would best to order one from the local representative for the manufacturer. He also said to give his office a call when the cover came to us for him to install it so the swamp cooler was ready for winter.

“Elkhorn Heating, AC and Electric charged me $139 for an incorrect home visit that was clearly based on a miscommunication. I am very disappointed with them.
What happened:
I was referred to Elkhorn electric for an electrician by a neighbor, who gave me their number. I called (they use a call center that seems unfamiliar with the business) and requested an electrician to come investigate what could be causing an electric burning smell in our home. I mentioned that it seemed to happen after we raised the thermostat, so it might be associated with that. Apparently that caused her to refer the call someone from the Heating side of the company. Fuzzy, the technician, called me and I told him that the smell was definitely not dust being burnt by the furnace and we scheduled the soonest possible time for him to come by, which happened to be while I was out of the house but my husband was home. He was abrupt to the point of rudeness over the phone.
When I returned, I was shocked to discover that the “electrician” had only looked at our furnace, not other appliances that may have shorted out, declared it working and told my husband that he had been smelling dust. The guy had taken a payment of $139.
When I called back to request a visit by an actual electrician to deal with the electric burning smell, their response was terrible. Instead of trying to make things right, they argued that I had asked for an HVAC person, and said that they were going to find recordings of my original call to the call center in order to show me that I had asked for a heating specialist. Since my original call was going off of a phone number my neighbor provided, I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW that they were also an HVAC business.

“In 2019 Elkhorn replaced our A/C, furnace and water heater and we could not be more pleased. From start to finish, their whole team was courteous, professional, and exhibited an obvious pride in their craftsmanship that you don’t always see these days. In January of 2025, the water heater gas control valve failed. Nick came out first thing on a below zero Monday morning, swapped in a new valve unit and we were back in business. No muss, no fuss. I continue to highly recommend Elkhorn!
